Departure day, and it was a big stressful one.
Barney our dog got picked up at 6:45am for his long flight(s) to Berlin. Very sad to see him go and we hope he is going to be ok.
Once Barney left it was back in the apartment for cleaning and final packing. Still so much stuff in the apartment!
Out of the blue our property manager calls and says she wants to show someone through the apartment in an hours time. Sheezuz! The place wasn't ready for it, but we made it happen with much rushing for when she arrived with the clients. We had to vacate the apartment as she showed them though...time ticking away.
Once they had gone we got our boxes ready and then conveniently distributed certain items to our parents. This was a couple of back and forth trips but it all got done (thanks Pops!).
Our final hours were spent fretting about our baggage weight limits, with Nordines bag initially weighing over 35kg. We redistributed some of the stuff into my bag and hoped for the best.
At Perth International Airport we chucked our bags on the scales and Nordines came right on the 32kg max limit. Phew. My bag and guitar came to 31kg combined. 3kg over our allowance but we weren't charged for excess baggage.
With the bags checked in a wave of relief swept over us. We spent an all to brief 30 minutes with our family and friends before going through the departure lounge - not without my customary 'random' search on the way through.
