Registration - try 2

After our last failed attempt at registering our address, we went to try again.

This appointment was booked for us by our Frau No-English from last week. She wanted to make it 8am, and we managed to push it back to 8:30am. Wow.

Getting up at 7am to get ready this morning felt unnatural. We barely keep track of what weekday it is let alone have to deal with early morning starts. We set three alarms just in case.

It was dark when we got up. And when we left the house. And lightened up as we got to the district office.

Her we had our appointment number in hand and waited again in the crappy waiting room.

Our appointment was for 8:30am but we didn't get called in until about 8:40am. So much for German efficiency..hahah.

In another less than colourful office we were served by a guy that spoke only a bit of English. In this office he had two co-workers and they seemed to have very cruisey jobs. Here we gave our guy all our papers and he seemed miffed that we only had one appointment booked - 'but you are two guyz?'. Once we explained we were married he thought this was funny. Ha..not really.

Our new paperwork, a rental contract, seemed to fill in the blanks that we were missing last time.

He tapped away but his computer was not working and kept erasing everything he was typing. More jokes. Not really. Nordine said 'Ihr computer schläft' (meaning sleeps) and I thought she said 'Ihr computer ist schwarz' as in your computer is black. Everyone had a bit of a chuckle but I didn't understand what she said (the computer was beige dammit) until later and asked why she said the computer was black.

Man it was some hilarious times down at the district office. Not really.

Anyway, eventually the guy got his computer together and got us both registered - separately. We signed something German (hopefully not a confession to something) and were done. Too easy.

So...this is not really the most scintillating story ever told, but just an update to the previously failed attempt of last time.

Now we have our 'Anmeldung' this should assist us in our next 'hilarious' bureaucratic adventures.
